When it comes to your unique pet you’re probably wondering what to expect at an annual exam since your exotic animal isn’t the most common house pet. However, many exotic pets have specific environmental and nutritional requirements. So getting a wellness exam is a must.

When you schedule an annual wellness exam your unique pet will receive a thorough evaluation of their diet, cage setup, bedding, nutritional supplementation, environmental requirements like temperature, lighting, and aging changes, along with species-specific behaviors. During your visit, recommendations will be made on the species of your unique pet and any abnormal findings. If you have a small mammal, like a rodent, chinchilla, guinea pig, or rabbit, your exam will be primarily focused on their teeth.

Feathered pets will need routine blood panels and fecal checks as part of their annual exam. Lastly, for most lizards and reptiles we advise a yearly intestinal parasite check and a routine blood panel. For more information on your exotic pet’s health contact us. We’d be happy to answer your questions!
